Tippy is a male shih tzu or lhasa apso about 8 years old. He was adopted on January 14, 1994 from the Downey California animal shelter so his age is unknown. The staff at the shelter thought he was a shih tzu while his vet leans toward a lhasa apso - it does not matter to us, we love him as he is. Tippy was found on the streets he had clearly been abused, and was in poor health. His coat looked as if he had battled a lawn mower and lost. He had open sores and tar embedded in his paws. However, his most memorable trait was his total aggression toward any human - with the exception of my wife and myself who he quickly sized up as push-overs. We had him for over 4 months before his tail wagged. Today one of my greatest joys is to have him meet me at the door with his tail bouncing back and forth. Wonderful sight This poor little guy was only with us for three days before Los Angeles had its last big earthquake. One wonders what he thought about his new home at that point. Instrumental in socializing Tippy and integrating him into our home was Tinker Toy our mini doxie. Today he adores her and "dogs" her footsteps. |
