Humanistic Medicine Action Committee
Keck AMSA's humanistic medicine action committee promotes an appreciation
of the "humanities" in general and an exploration of human issues
relating to the practice of medicine via expressive mediums such as film,
literature, and art. Central to this goal is an awareness of emotional growth
and compassion utilized in personalized patient care, as well as an understanding
of ethical issues and decision-making surrounding the treatment of a patient
as a genuine, autonomous, and unique human individual. 
To this end, we will explore these "humanistic" aspects of medicine
by enjoying the "humanities" through selected movie-screenings with
discussions focusing on the medically-relevant issues, viewing of relevant
art exhibits, and hosting guest-lecturers in these fields.
