Phillip Cheng, MD MS

I am Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of Southern California, where my primary clinical interests are in abdominal imaging.

I also have a background and interest in medical and radiology informatics. In particular, I am interested in building software tools that facilitate clinical workflow and education. Some of the software projects that I am currently developing include:

  • CaseMaker, a tool for building teaching file cases and submitting them to a MIRC server.
  • JeopardyMaker, a system for building a Jeopardy style Powerpoint presentation from individual Powerpoint question/case files.
  • DicomSaver, a drag-and-drop tool for saving images and cine clips from the Fuji Synapse PACS.
  • DicomPeek, a drag-and-drop DICOM field viewer for the Fuji Synapse PACS.
  • DoseDebug, a selective DICOM field viewer for examining CT technical parameters for dose optimization.
  • MRI Inspector, a selective DICOM field viewer for examining MR parameters.
  • CT Dose OCR, a glyph matching system for converting the CT dose bitmaps from legacy CT systems into text.
  • DoseRetriever, a system for automatically retrieving CT dose information from PACS, incorporating CT Dose Screen OCR.
  • PrelimCheck, a program for retrieving and reviewing preliminary notes and final reports from PACS.
