s of this writing, Sally is 7 1/2 years old and doing wonderfully. She
had some problems with recurring staph infections on her skin, as well as
bouts of colitis during short out-of-state travels in November 1999 and
March 2000. Shortly after returning home from the March trip, she began
going to a new holistic veterinarian. Dr. Bozeman has worked wonders with
Sally, finally getting her health back on track after being without a
holistic veterinarian for more than a year. Sally is taking various
nutritional supplements which seem to have perked her immune system back
up. She also made a 5 day trip out of state over the Labor Day weekend
without any signs of the colitis recurring!
S ally continues to do well in her 4-wheeled cart, often managing to keep favorite toys away from her younger brother, Dickens. As for future plans, Sally, Gretchen and Dickens will be attending the national specialty show of the Dachshund Club of America in November in Mesa, Arizona. Sally obviously won't be competing, but she and Dickens will be participating in two different costume parades while they are there. Be sure to check back around the end of November for an update and pictures of them in their costumes. Details are currently being kept "Top Secret", so for now you'll just have to trust us when we say that their costumes are adorable! T he AbleDogs e-mail support group, hosted by Sally and her mom, Karen, continues to grow. If you have a pet who is experiencing back problems, paralysis, or is in a cart, please consider joining the support group. You can read more about it on the AbleDogs web site at: ABLEDOGS or e-mail Karen at: klhenry@ix.netcom.com for more information. | |

| S ally hooked up to her electrical stimulation unit that is hopefully helping to rebuild her atrophied muscles. Even when she's lying there getting her muscles stimulated, she still can give "the look". She's a character! |
