Tippy's a 16 year old (adoption date January 14, 1994)male Shih Tzu - rescued from our city pound just days before he would have been put to sleep. In the shelters' own words: "This is a very high-kill shelter". Prior to arriving there he must have been the victim of prolonged abuse. He was all matted and scarred, his coat was in total disarray. With the exception of my wife and myself Tippy snarled and attempted to lunge at all humans. For the first week with us he was so frightened he cowered and never barked. It was months before he wagged his tail or indicated he was no longer frightened. Our Dachshund, Tinker Toy, adopted him and some TLC restored him to a wonderful loving pet. Before you go to a breeder or pet store
- - PLEASE - - think about saving the life of a dog by going to a rescue center.
I can attest that the rewards are truly great.

first place for the Shih Tzu breed in the First Annual WWW Virtual Dog Show.
